New App to Support Asthma Management

Cambridgeshire & Peterborough ICB have been working in partnership with my mhealth, for the last two years, to deliver a programme of work focusing on improving the day-to-day management of people living with asthma.  The partnership was developed following the successful initial deployment of the myAsthma app, which was focused on areas of high asthma prevalence and associated health care needs https://knowledgehub.mymhealth.com/successful-pilot-study-paves-the-way-for-widespread-deployment-of-myasthma-across-nhs-cambridgeshire-peterborough.

The last two years, have focused on scaling access across the ICB with over 7,000 patients now able to use the app to support the management of their condition.  To review the impact that this is having, a patient satisfaction survey was conducted at the start of the year.  The response has been fantastic with users reporting improved confidence in managing their asthma, a greater understanding of their condition and management leading to potential improvements in symptom control.

‘It’s important that patients feel confident self-managing their asthma. I’m pleased to see that patients who responded to the survey were experiencing positive results using the app.’  – Dr Sripat Pai, GP Lead
