Covid-19 Vaccination Programme- patient update 29 January 2021

Covid-19 vaccinations are currently being provided in two different ways; by Mass/Large Scale Vaccination Centres or Primary Care Networks (PCNs) in places such a GP practices.

Mass/Large Scale Vaccination Centres:

You may receive a letter from the NHS inviting you to one of these hubs e.g. Stevenage, Biggleswade, or newly opened in Peterborough and Cambridge.

If you are able to travel to these centres, we recommend that you do book an appointment. However if you do not want to travel to one of these centres you will still get an invitation from your GP practice.

These posted invitations are managed centrally by the NHS, not from GP practices.

PCNs

Great Staughton Surgery is part of the St Neots PCN which is made up of the following practices: Cedar House Practice, Dumbelton Medical Centre, St Neots Health Centre, Eaton Socon Health Centre, Monkfield Medical Practice and Great Staughton Surgery.

St Neots PCN patients are being invited by text to book their Covid vaccination appointment at Dumbelton Health Centre.  If you do not have a mobile phone, someone from Great Staughton Surgery will phone your landline to book your appointment.  If we are still unable to contact you, we will send a letter asking you to contact us to book your appointment and update your contact details.

If you would like to check or update the mobile number we hold for you please do this via an email to: [email protected]

Deliveries are all received from central supplies and our PCN is currently working through patients in the priority groups stipulated by the NHS and JCVI – specifically:

1. Residents in a care home for older adults and their care home staff

2. Those aged 80 and over and frontline health and social care workers

3. All those 75 years of age and over

4. All those 70 years and over, and all those who are Clinically Extremely Vulnerable (CEV) – patients who have received a shielding letter

Invitations will shortly be sent via text to our patients in group 4, once clinic details have been finalised- please do not phone the surgery to enquire- as above, you will be contacted by text or phone call.

Further, localised information can be found on the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough CCG website.

This is the biggest vaccination programme the NHS has ever undertaken. It is a huge challenge and we understand that waiting your turn can create anxiety. Please be reassured that you will be contacted when it is your turn to book. We thank you all for your patience.
