Changes to NHS Prescription Charge from 1 April 2021

The NHS Prescription charge is £9.35 for each item collected after 1 April 2021. Some items may have more than one charge, eg elastic hosiery; a member of the dispensary team will explain if that is the case.

The NHS prescription charge is a contribution to the NHS; it is not a payment to the surgery or its dispensary and it is not related to the cost of your medicine(s).

If you need at least 4 prescriptions in three months or at least 12 prescriptions in a year, you could save money with a Prescription Prepayment Certificate (PPC), ask a member of the dispensary team for more details or visit www.nhsbsa.nhs.uk to purchase on line.

The cost of a PPC is:

£30.25 for 3 months

£108.10 for 12 months

Prescriptions are free for some people – ask the dispensary team for advice or visit www.nhs.uk/healthcosts
